Did you know that email marketing generates a 70% higher ROI than any other direct mail does? Startling figures and it saves the environment! If you aren't using email as a internet marketing technique, then its about time you started thinking about it.

Whether you're already using email marketing or you haven't started yet, here's 5 tips to help you out...

  1. Headline
Make the subject line the most important line in the whole email. People will make a decision as to whether to open it based on that line. Keep it short and avoid using blatantly cheesy sales techniques like capital letters or exclamation marks

  2. When You’ve Got Them to Click
Make the email easy on the eye and put the important stuff at the top – you’ve got to make it worth their while now they’ve bothered to click in.
Always go by the rule of self – would you be pleased to see this email? Would it be something you would respond to? We all know the ones we wouldn’t so don’t let it fall into the spam folder.

  3. What Do You Want Them to Do
So now they’ve opened the email and you haven’t frightened them of with boring content or flashy sales talk, what do you want them to do?
Make it very clear for them – a link to your website perhaps or a request for more information. Ensure that the 'what' and also the 'how' they do it are really prominent.

  4. I Never Asked For That
How annoying is it when you get unsolicited mail from people you don’t know and for products and services you don't want?
Get your database right from the start, make sure that people have agreed to receive your emails and provide them with an opt out if they want to use it.

  5. We Know What You’ve Been Doing
Your email campaign results will give you a brilliant snapshot to tell you how well each of your communications are working. You can feed the successful back into your sales and search engine marketing plans and start to tailor your emails according to what pushes peoples' buttons.

  6. Try it. It's cheap, it's simple and it works. What's not to like?
Every website gets visitors; but the question is how do we get them to stick around once they’re there and convert that click into a customer?

Unless you are completely satisfied with the performance of your site you should always try new techniques to increase the number of people you convert.

The question you need to ask yourself first is – what do you want the customer to do when they get to your site? You may just be collating information through sign ups to newsletters or you may want them to submit an enquiry or even buy something from your site.

Whatever your aim is, you need to make sure that the page the visitor clicks through to entices them to do what you want them to do.

Here are 5 top tips to help make your site work more effectively...

  1. Make the page they land on entirely relevant and focussed on the subject they are interested in. This may well be your home page, but why not try creating subject specific pages that could be focussed on a special offer, a discount or even articles or white papers?

  2. As with direct mail, make sure you experiment with the headline you use on the page – this will be the first thing they see so try different combinations words and graphics and see what grabs their attention

  3. Establish what information you need the visitor to see without them having to scroll down the page – things like your contact details or special offers
  4. Make your product or service appear immediately credible by having testimonials or links to case studies on the page. If you sell products for which you offer a guarantee make sure this is prominent

  5. Keep your messages succinct, to the point and easy to read. Visitors shouldn’t have to read through a full page of text to find what they are looking for!

Make your site attractive and easy to use for the visitor and your website should start working hard to help you grow your business.
eBusiness UK has been granted a much coveted membership to the British Franchise Association – and they're the first and only company in their market to do so. The BFA is the governing body for franchise firms in the UK and its strict code of business practice means that qualification is no easy task, and eBusiness UK passed the stringent application phase and has been granted membership. This now marks out eBusiness UK as the best in its field when it comes to franchising, after every aspect of the business – from the people that run it to its business plan – was scrutinised. Kam Kothia, the company's managing director, said: "BFA membership is not awarded lightly, it took a great deal of time and effort to prove that we comply. "However it is a very worthy accreditation and will make us stand out amongst other businesses. We are now the company that people who are considering an internet consultancy franchise will look to first." The franchise operation was established by eBusiness UK last year, which has lead to hundreds of applications. Already there are operations in Lancashire, Edinburgh and Glasgow, with several others from around the UK in the pipeline. It is another certificate for the increasingly crowded walls of eBusiness UK's Capricorn Park offices, alongside the Big Chip Ten award which they took home from Manchester last month and November’s Lancashire Telegraph IT and Media company of the year award. "It has been a very positive year for us," added Kam. "We are rapidly growing in stature and others are taking note of us and the quality of our business."
